The UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) is a UK law which came into effect on 1st January 2021 and this privacy notice fulfils requirements and outlines how we collect, use, share and store your personal information.

Why do we need your personal information?

DfI Rivers processes your information to facilitate communications with landowners and stakeholders affected by the Belfast Tidal Flood Alleviation Scheme and to make informed decisions in relation to its development.

The Department for Infrastructure has the authority under the Drainage (NI) Order 1973 to construct, reconstruct, alter, improve, repair, maintain, demolish or remove sea defence works for the purpose of the protection against flooding by the sea of any land. The Department also has authority under the Drainage (NI) Order 1973 in relation to the acquisition of and entry on to land.

What categories of personal data are you processing?

Personal data, including your name, address and contact details, which may include email addresses and/or telephone numbers. Other information may include, land ownership and other land usage details.

Do you share my personal data with anyone else?

The information that you provide will be securely stored and used solely for response purposes and providing scheme updates where appropriate. This information will be accessible to DfI Rivers and its appointed consultants, contractors, Departmental Solicitors, LPS or other Government Departments only. We do not make personal details available to other companies for marketing purposes.

Do you transfer my personal data to other countries?

No.

What rights do I have?

  • You have the right to obtain confirmation that your data is being processed;
