Summary

The Department for Infrastructure (DfI) has published a draft revised policy consultation document for strategic planning policy on renewable and low carbon energy for comment. The aim of the review is to ensure that regional strategic planning policy on renewable and low carbon energy remains fit for purpose and up-to-date to inform decision-making in relation to development proposals for this subject area. It is also intended to inform the local development plan (LDP) process and enable plan-makers to bring forward appropriate local policies, all within the wider contemporary context for energy and the climate emergency.

Responses should be submitted via Citizen Space no later that 5.00 pm on Friday 30th June 2023. Comments received after this deadline will not be accepted.

The draft policy consultation is accompanied by an Environmental Report (ER),  Non-Technical Summary (NTS) and Section 75 Equality of Opportunity Screening Analysis Form, which can be viewed and/or downloaded above. The ER and NTS will be available for public inspection at Clarence Court, 10-18 Adelaide Street, Belfast BT2 8GB until 5pm on Friday 30th June 2023 during normal office hours.

Anyone wishing to express an opinion on the ER, NTS or comment on the Section 75 Equality Screening Analysis Form can do so by emailing SPPSTeam@infrastructure-ni.gov.uk no later than 5pm on Friday 30th June 2023, otherwise they cannot be taken into consideration.
