Road improvement scheme for Ardmore Road, Derry

Date published: 18 August 2020

A £246,000 resurfacing scheme for Ardmore Road, Derry will commence on Monday 24 August 2020 and is scheduled to take five weeks to complete.

Road resurfacing

The improvement scheme, which starts close to the Ballybogie Road and progresses south eastwards towards Berryburn Bridge for a distance of approximately 1.2 kilometres, includes resurfacing of the carriageway and upgrading of road drainage.

Due to the nature of the scheme daily lane closures will operate, Monday to Saturday, between the hours of 8.00 am and 6.00 pm.

A full road closure will also be required towards the end of the five weeks for final resurfacing to be completed, however, the Department will advise local residents and the travelling public in advance of closures dates. Access for residents will be maintained throughout although some delays may occur.

The Department has carefully planned these roadworks and associated traffic management arrangements in order to minimise inconvenience to the public, however, road users should expect some delays and additional time should be allowed when planning any journeys.

Completion of the scheme by the end of September is subject to favourable weather conditions, however, the Department will keep the public informed of any change. All work will be carried out in line with current public health and safety advice with safe systems of working in place for staff and contractors.
