£320,000 road improvement scheme on A6 Glenshane Road at Lisnamuck Road

Date published: 02 June 2017

A £320,000 resurfacing scheme on the A6 Glenshane Road at its junction with the B42 Lisnamuck Road is due to commence on Monday 12 June 2017.

Road resurfacing

The scheme will involve major carriageway and hard shoulder resurfacing and is expected to be completed by Friday 7 July 2017.

The works will extend on the A6 Glenshane Road from its junction with the Lisnamuck Road for approximately 800m in a north westerly direction and approximately 400m in a south westerly direction.  The total length of the scheme is 1.2km.

To help minimise any inconvenience to the travelling public and local businesses two-way traffic flow will be maintained on the A6 with ‘Stop / Go’ boards used only when necessary.  A mandatory 40mph speed limit will be enforced during this period and overtaking will be prohibited.

The Lisnamuck Road junction will be closed for the duration of the works therefore there will also be no access / exit to or from the A6.  All traffic will be diverted via the A6 and the C552 Five Mile Straight and vice versa.  Advanced warning signage will be provided as necessary.

The above planned dates are subject to favourable weather conditions and the Department will keep the public informed of any change.

The works operations and traffic management arrangements have been carefully programmed in order to minimise any inconvenience to the public, however motorists should be aware that delays should be expected and that additional time should be allowed when planning any journeys.
