£160,000 road resurfacing scheme on A55 Newtownbreda Road, Belfast

Date published: 07 June 2018

A £160,000 carriageway resurfacing scheme on a section of the A55 Newtownbreda Road, Belfast will commence on Saturday 9 June 2018.

Resurfacing work

The scheme, on the East Bound section of the road on the approach to the Saintfield Road junction, will greatly improve the surface quality of the carriageway.

Resurfacing will be carried out over two consecutive weekends and will involve a full road closure in an easterly direction for the duration of the works. The first closure will be from 7pm on Saturday 9 June to 8pm on Sunday 10 June. On the following weekend the work will be carried out on Sunday 17 June from 6am to 8pm.

The dates and duration of the road closures will be dependent on the progress of the scheme and on favourable weather conditions. In order to help ensure the safety of road users and road workers the public is asked to comply with all temporary traffic restrictions and follow the signed diversionary route via Milltown Road, Purdysburn Road and Saintfield Road.

The Department for Infrastructure has carefully planned these road works and associated traffic management arrangements in order to minimise any inconvenience to the public, however motorists should expect delays and allow additional time when planning any journey.
